About ERS

Environmental Rangers Society (ERS)was established in 1991 by a group of student volunteers.

It’s motto is “To conserve and preserve”.
The vision statement is “To conserve and preserve what nature has given to mankind and to create a sense of awareness among the students in the campus by cultivating responsibility and educating them on recycling and service to mother nature”.

Our current strength is 95 active members.

NP Environment Champion Award Scheme 2008

Aim:

To recognize and reward students for their outstanding effort in championing the cause of environmental awareness and protection of our environment.

Who can participate:
  • NP Students - Take part in five environment events organise by NP

  • Secondary School Students - Take part in two environment events organise by NP
    (Look out for the list of activities of 2007/2008 at the bottom)

All students need to do is to complete an application form and write an essay of 200 - 300 words describing how their actions/activities/projects have contributed to the protection of the environment and submit between 1 May 08 - 30 June 08 to Ms Maga (sem1@np.edu.sg).

NP will select 20 NP students and 10 Secondary School students for a subsidies Eco trip in Nov/Dec 2008.

Award Presentation:

Sucessful applicants will receive the NP Environment Champion Award during Clean & Green Week in November 2008.

Trip Deliverables:

  • At the end of the eco-camp, awardees will have to conduct a sharing session with Ngee Ann students/school, using media such as a multimedia presentation or photo exhibition.

  • They will help to raise environmental awareness and actively encourage others to adopt environmentally-friendly practices.

Upcoming Events


1. Visit to Semakau Land Fill - Sept 07
~Students learnt about the process of disposal and how to reduce waste.

2. Beach Clean Up - Sept 07
~Worked with SEC to learn about water pollution and anti-littering, and to clean up the coastal area.

3. E-Waste Recycling Campaign – Sept–Nov 07
~3R project aimed at educating students about proper disposal of electrical & electronic parts and equipment. Students collected e-waste from staff /students for sale. Proceeds donated to the Student Aid Fund.

4. Nature Trekking - Bukit Timah Hill - Oct 07
~To allow participants to appreciate our flora and fauna and learn the importance of nature conservation.

5. Canteen Tray Return Campaign – Oct 07
~Campaign to educate staff/students on a clean & fine dining experience and to deter scavengers from feeding on leftovers.

6. NEA Clean & Green Environment Launch - 3rd-4th Nov 07

7. Enviro-Day - 2nd wk of Nov 07
~Exhibition for green projects from schools/divisions/ external organizations.

8. Treetop Trail at MacRitchie – Dec 07
~To allow participants to appreciate our flora and fauna and learn the importance of nature conservation

9. NP Eco Camp - 11th-13th Jan 08
~Eco camp for green groups in NP. Aim: to review and sum up the whole year’s green projects and discuss overseas green projects.

10. Earthlings Look! Exhibition – April 08
~Exhibition on endangered species held in conjunction with NEA. Featured 3R projects, anti-littering and no smoking exhibits.

11. Green Fusion Camp – June 08
~Camp for new greenies and leaders to plan and schedule green activities, so that participants can bring these ideas to their schools/divisions.

The above activities are open to all NP students and Secondary School students.
