About ERS

Environmental Rangers Society (ERS)was established in 1991 by a group of student volunteers.

It’s motto is “To conserve and preserve”.
The vision statement is “To conserve and preserve what nature has given to mankind and to create a sense of awareness among the students in the campus by cultivating responsibility and educating them on recycling and service to mother nature”.

Our current strength is 95 active members.

Upcoming Activities


Looking for sth to do in the holidays? Isn’t it boring to always go to orchard or some other shopping mall? Try some of these nature activities. They are all organized by the various environmental groups by Singapore. The following are some which we think are more interesting. Do participate enthusiastically!!!


1st Oct (Sat): Lower Peirce Boardwalk free Nature Appreciation Walk

The 900m boardwalks take you through the forest then along the edge of the Reservoir. So you will encounter a wide range of wildlife from forest to aquatic creatures. And enjoy wonderful panaromas of waters surrounding by luxuriant forest. Shaded by the forest, the walk is pleasantly cool.

Time: 9.30am and 10.30am. Meet at Casuarina Entrance of the trail along Old Upper Thomson Road.

1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th Oct (Sat): Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve free guided walk



You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Besides the abundant bird life, there is also other fascinating wildlife in the Reserve.

4pm: Free Marine Fish Guided Walk at Sungei Buloh introducing you to the fabulous fishes of the Reserve.





Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm, for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register.
Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Entry charges: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen.

2nd Oct (Sun): Bukit Timah Nature Reserve free Nature Appreciation

WalkThe walk takes you along the short South View trail for a quick introduction to the rainforest. You will learn more about the amazing plant life in a rainforest and how everything fits remarkably together.
Time: Walk starts at 4pm. Meet 5 minutes before the walk starts at the Visitor Centre.
Tour duration: about one hour. Not accessible to prams and wheelchairs. Contact:

8th Oct (Sat): Botanic Gardens Rainforest Trail free guided walk

A fabulously easy introduction to a rainforest with tall trees and other mysterious plants! Right in the heart of the city, within minutes of Orchard Road, this is the oldest remnant of rainforest in Singapore!
Time: 9am, 10am, 11am, 4pm; Register 15 minutes before the tour at the Visitor Centre.
Tour duration: one hour. Suitable for young children.

9th Oct (Sun): MacRitchie Prunus Trail free guided walk

You'll see breath-taking views of the reservoir and surrounding forests and learn more about the freshwater and land wildlife and plants there.

Time: 9.30am and 10.30am. Meet at entrance of the trail, about 300m from the fishing ground, MacRitchie Reservoir Park.
Tour duration: about one hour.To join the guided tour, you will need to pre-book.

22nd Oct (Sat): Sensory Trail, Pulau Ubin free guided walk

Experience Ubin’s wonderful nature through your different senses along our Sensory Trail. The easy walk is an excellent introduction to the rustic and natural character of the island. You will be able to touch, see or smell fruit trees, spices and herbs for cooking, plants used in traditional medicine and native plants of the mangrove forest.

Time: Tours start at 9.30am and 10am, meet 10 minutes before the tour stars at the Ubin Information Kiosk (near Ubin Jetty).
Tour duration: one and a half hours.
